A few weekends ago, we met up with Melissa and Glenn for their engagement photos.  Because both Melissa and Glenn have a theatrical background, they loved taking creative and fun photos.  Melissa was full of unique ideas, and I’ve never seen so many props!  Saturday night we met in Saratoga, and traveled around the downtown.  Then, Sunday morning, we met in Schenectady, near some amazing cherry trees.

Recently, we met up with Tina and James for some engagement photos.  We discussed several locations for their engagement shoot; but ultimately, they decided upon Saratoga, because Saratoga is the city they love.  We certainly understand why, as we love the city ourselves!  Tina and James were full of smiles and laughter throughout their engagement session, and their pictures reflect that happiness.  We’re looking forward to your wedding in June (also in Saratoga, of course)!

Right after Tina and James changed into their more causal outfits, the sun decided to appear.  It was perfect timing!

A couple weeks ago, dear friends of ours dropped by our studio with their little girl Abigail.  We had so much fun with this little girl and her family!  Her Dad made  her laugh with funny faces and Math facts, and I’m pretty sure we laughed the entire session.  She was a joy to photograph!

Spring’s almost here, and we couldn’t be more excited.  This spring at Camera Famosa, we’re offering a great deal for photos.  Every year, we add a few baby chicks to our flock.  This year, they’re arriving at the end of April.  We plan on having the sessions outdoors, but if the weather doesn’t cooperate, we’ll make sure our studio looks ready for spring.

As some of you may or may not know, Tim grew up near Pittsburgh, PA.  On a somewhat recent trip back in December, we visited the Pittsburgh Glass Center.  His dad is a retired scientific glassblower who used to work at the University of Pittsburgh.  He usually attends the PGC’s Open House once a month and does a live demonstration in their “flame shop.”  Now, he enjoys making Christmas ornaments as well as other artistic creations in his spare time.

By heating a certain spot of a glass tube, he blows into one end to form a ball.  Once that’s done, there are dozens of different design possibilities that can be made once the basic form is created.

Upstairs in the “hot shop,” a few other people were collectively working on a piece.  It’s here where larger work is done with ample annealing space and multiple ovens.

If you ever have the opportunity, we highly recommend watching these artists heat, manipulate and mold an unassuming piece of glass into a work of art.

We met with Bhakta and Matt on a crisp January day.  The air was cold, but luckily for us, it was before the bitter cold of the season took hold.  We started at Skidmore College, and they brought their adorable dog Boyd.  He was so well behaved!  He could be a dog model, he sat for photos easily, and he even seemed to smile!  Afterwards, we traveled to downtown Saratoga and wandered around Congress Park and Broadway.  These two were so nice to hang out and talk with, we know their wedding in September at Key Hall will be amazing!

High school sweethearts Jenn and Tom were married on New Year’s Eve in a sweet little church in Chestertown, and celebrated afterwards at the Copperfield Inn in North Creek, NY.  Their wedding celebration was an absolute PARTY.  When the couple picked New Year’s Eve for their wedding date, they knew what they were doing.

For us the wedding felt like a little reunion. We met Jenn and Tom through Andrea and Ray (who’s wedding we photographed a year and a half ago), and already knew many of the guests.  It was so much fun to celebrate the New Year with these folks, and document the happiness of such a kind and sincere couple.  Congratulations on your marriage!

Her shoes were just perfect for a New Year’s Eve celebration.

We haven’t had much snow this year, but it had snowed the previous day, so we ventured outside for some quick photos with the ladies.

Tom got ready at his parents’ house.  Both locations were still decorated for Christmas, a nice little backdrop for the day.

We stayed inside the church for formal photos since it was pitch black outside.

Because there was a bunch of time between the ceremony and the reception, the whole wedding party stopped off at a local restaurant for a little break.

Their reception area was decorated in gorgeous detail with a winter wonderland theme.

When Jenn and Tom were introduced, a huge cheer erupted from the crowd.  These guys are most certainly loved…

Shortly after the New Year, we got to meet Quinn, Courtney, and adorable baby Jack!  Don’t these three make a beautiful family?  Jack was two weeks old when we met so he was mostly wide eyed and awake. Still, we got to catch a few moments when he closed his eyes.  Jack had the cutest forehead wrinkles, and a cry like a little lamb.  All three were super nice.  Thanks for spending some time with us at our studio!

Ilana and Marc’s wedding was amazingly, stunningly, beautiful.  It was difficult to put together this post, because they had so many gorgeous moments in their day.  Both the bride and groom got ready at the Saratoga Marriott, and they had their first look in Congress Park, just before sunset.  The ceremony and reception were held at the Museum of Dance.  The reception lasted late into the night with City Rhythm‘s rocking live band.

Ilana and Marc, it was so much fun to work with you, and we enjoyed every minute of your wedding!  We wish you two all the best in the future!

Ilana patiently waited for Marc to walk up and surprise her.

By the time Marc reached here, his eyes were welling up with tears.  It was so beautiful.

The two just stared, smiled and laughed with each other for several minutes.

After some photos in the park, we decided to travel up Broadway.  These guys were up for anything, and we had a bunco of fun picking out spots for a quick photo.  First, they stopped traffic.

Then, they ran up the steps of Maestro’s for a quick shot next to their outdoor heaters.

Next was a quick stop at Bettie’s Cakes…

Then we had to stop at Druther’s to check out their fire table.  After that, it was on to the Dance Museum!

Ilana and Marc took a few formal photos with friends and family in front of their Chuppah before the ceremony.

The Chuppah represents the home the couple will build together.

Then it was time to get married!

The reception was decorated impeccably.  Deryck de Matas‘ floral arrangements were simply stunning.  Deryck combined flowers with edibles.  If you look below, you can see eggplants, cabbages and apples within the flowers.

Marc and Ilana had an adorable first dance prepared for everyone.

Their families joined in, and they were lifted up on their chairs in celebration.  The energy in the room was absolutely magnetic!  The rest of the evening included toasts, cake cutting, and much, much more dancing.

Stephen and Lauren were married at the Century House on a slightly chilly November day.  I could tell these two put lots of thought into their wedding, and it really showed in the details!   Congratulations on your marriage, we wish you the best of luck in your future together.

Isn’t Lauren’s wedding dress amazing?  She told me she snagged it at a sample sale in NYC.  Good find!

I loved Lauren’s choices for fall wedding colors.  Pretty pastels mixed with cranberry colored flowers made for some uniquely pretty wedding bouquets.  Don’t the ladies look lovely?

Beside the ceremony site, Lauren displayed a collection of wedding dresses from some of her family members.

We decided to take most of the formal photos in front of the Century House on the front steps.

It was quite windy, but the wind caught Lauren’s veil at the perfect moment!

The Century House was decorated beautifully.  Lauren had collected antique silver teapots and used them for her centerpieces.

Tim had lots of fun with his ring pictures.  A book always makes for a great prop.

The DJ for the evening was Music Speak Volumes.  They were seriously good fun!
